Cap d’Agde Campsite Questions Answered

Last Updated on November 17, 2023

There are various accommodation options (see the accommodation page) and in addition to the hotels, apartments, and villas, one popular option amongst true naturists is the campsite.

Below I will cover everything you need to know about the campsite including how to book, commonly asked questions, what types of accommodation exist in the camping area and the facilities you can expect.

Campsite Facilities

The great thing about the naturist campsite in Cap d’Agde is that you have access to extra facilities that others in the resort do not have access to.

You also have an extra level of security and the chance to stay in your own tent, caravan or motor-home and to stay more affordably (unless you choose one of the new luxury cottages).

The downside for some people might be that from some parts of the campsite, it is a longer walk to the main shopping areas than if you stay for example in Port Nature in an apartment.

So you have to decide what your own requirements are. If you are not interested in using your own caravan, tent, or vehicle, there are also chalets inside the campsite.

These chalets include 2, 4, 6 and 8 person options and vary in price according to the month.

Do note that the 2 person chalets are very small from my experience of staying in one. For 2 people, I would actually recommend renting a 4 person chalet and just paying a little extra for the extra space.

The campsite has some of its own facilities including a bakery and small shop in the middle of the campsite, and numerous facilities by the main entrance.

The main entrance facilities include fitness classes, grocers (fruit and vegetables), fishmongers, and a pizza hut. Close by there is also a launderette.

Common Questions About the Campsite

Can I just turn up without booking?

You can just turn up and there normally are some camp spots always available. It is rare for the campsite to be 100% full.

I personally though would still recommend booking in advance because you can book quite easily online (booking information is below) and why take the chance of being disappointed.

If you are in the area anyway and have nothing to lose then you should be okay to just turn up. If you are planning to rent one of the chalets though, the situation is different.

The chalets can get booked out early and can be difficult to rent in July and August. You can sometimes get lucky but you might well find that there is not a suitable chalet in the campsite for all of the days you require.

What do I need for staying at the campsite?

To get into the campsite through the security gate of the campsite you will need a copy of your booking printed out.

Even without it, you should be able to mention that you are arriving to book to stay and you will be guided the 200 meters or so to the main office.

If you are staying 2 or more days you will have to pay for French naturism membership.

This does not need to be booked or planned beforehand and this will be compulsory for your stay.

This card can be sorted and paid for at check-in. The wristbands which you will use during your stay to gain access to the campsite (there is usually someone on the gates and other access points checking your wrist) are handed to you when you check-in.

Power in the form of electricity and water is available on every campsite pitch. Gas cylinders are available for purchase in the shops within the main naturist area such as in the ‘Green Bazaar’ store in Heliopolis.

When does the season start and when does the campsite open?

The gates open at slightly different times each year although the season generally speaking runs from the start of March through to the end of September.

The campsite and resort in general though look like a ghost town in March and April and the weather is often too cold for naturism.

Are you allowed to take cats and dogs to the campsite?

Yes, you are allowed to keep cats and dogs in the campsite during your stay.

There are several people who stay on the campsite and who bring their pets each season.

Extra fees are charged I believe for also having pets stay with you.

Can I rent a tent?

You cannot rent tents to put up yourself but the campsite owners have pout up some tents at the far end of the camping area and these tents are rented out.

Some of the tents as we understand it has fridges and some other mod-cons in them.

You can stay in the camping area though without your own tent and this is by choosing to stay in one of the chalets or in one of the new luxury cottages they have recently built and now rent out.

How far is the beach from the campsite?

It all depends on what part of the campsite you have a spot on but the closest spots are literally no more than 50 meters from the beach and take roughly 1 -2 minutes to reach the edge of the beach.

From the far side of the campsite, you are perhaps 300 – 400 meters from the beach.

What about internet access?

Internet access is available throughout the campsite.

You can buy a pass for a certain number of days i.e. a day, week or month or for a certain number of hours. You cap for access at the main reception. The system uses www.osmozis.com in case you want to learn more about the service.

What if I don’t want to stay in the campsite – You certainly do not have to stay in the campsite and can choose from apartments in the rest of the resort or stay in one of the hotels such as Natureva Spa or the Oz Inn hotel.

How do I book to stay at the campsite in Cap d’Agde naturist village?

– There is only one way to stay in the campsite and that is to book through Rene Oltra via their website: www.centrenaturiste-oltra.fr
