Choosing Accommodation at Cap d’Agde for 2024

Last Updated on November 15, 2023

Renting a villa in Cap d'Agde

If you are planning a trip to Cap d’Agde, in addition to our main accommodation page, below are some more ideas and information to make the decision easier for you. Please also send us in your own ideas and experiences.

Where should I stay in the resort

It very much depends on what type of accommodation type you want. Different people often give different reviews and make conflicting comments on various accommodation choices.

Budget, of course, will also play a significant role in the options. My thoughts are below.

Hotels Inside the Resort

Natureva Spa Hotel

The hotels seem to be quite expensive and thus will not suit the budget-conscious visitors to the resort. Some rooms cost EUROS200 plus although this is a higher-level luxury option. If budget is not an issue, Natureva Spa is a great choice.

Ozz Inn Hotel

Another very popular option is the OZ Inn Hotel.

This is one of the newest hotels inside the naturist village.

Vacation Rentals: Apartments & Villas

There are hundreds of apartments and villas available for rent inside the resort and you can view and check availability in the image below:

Campsite

The resort is great for camping lovers, motorhome aficionados, and real naturists, this is less of a swingers area of the resort and more popular with French families and people who love the real naturist lifestyle.

Entering the Resort

Village

On arriving at the resort entrance, there is an office just to the right of the main gate (as you look in towards the resort).

In the front office, you can get the entrance card and this will normally cost roughly Euros 15.

As you Enter the resort you will not actually see that many people immediately as you will have a couple of minutes’ walk or 30-second drive to your apartment, rental agency office, or campsite.

The further you go into the resort, the more people you will begin to see.

There are people who do walk clothed around the resort i.e. they might be day visitors heading out to the clothes area, or even just arrived themselves and summoning the bravery to shed their clothes.

Once you reach the beach area though, you will be faced almost exclusively with naked bodies.

What is Port Nature or Heliopolis

You will hear terms such as Port Nature and Heliopolis often if you read up on Cap d’Agde because these terms are in fact the names of the two largest buildings in the resort.

Port Nature

If you look at this building from a distance, you will notice that it is designed to look like a cruise ship with its long length and hull-like design.

If you never noticed the design and have already been to Cap d’Agde before, take a look as you stand by Heliopolis and you will notice the design.

Port nature houses a large percentage of the apartments in the resort and is also home to dozens of restaurants, several bars, and cafes, and a couple of dozen shops – shops that sell everything from sexy lingerie and bondage gear, through to postcards newspapers, and beach towels.

Heliopolis

Heliopolis is the other main block and has is composed of two semi-circles-like buildings and which accommodate another large number of apartments that are rented out by the owners each summer.

In between the buildings are many shops, a couple of saunas, some nightclubs, and shops.

The majority of people staying at Cap d’Agde will find themselves staying in Port Nature or Heliopolis.

What if I want to stay outside of the resort

You can enter the resort on a day-pass and this will enable you to spend the day on the beach and use the various facilities such as the shops, bars, and restaurants.

There are some restrictions (i.e. you cannot access the campsite) and these will be explained when you buy your day pass from the office at the resort entrance.

Local residents and property owners can get reduced rates and a year pass is available if you have proof of address/ownership.

The benefits:

  • Staying just outside the resort will mean cheaper accommodation.
  • Restaurants and shops are likely to be cheaper than at the resort.

The disadvantages

  • It is just not the same being outside the resort many people feel. You will pay more to stay in the resort but you can then take in the full atmosphere of Cap.

It is a hassle to have to go in and out of the main entrance, each day means further to walk and then you also have to worry about carrying the clothes which you will change out of once insider the resort.

What Things to do are there outside the Resort

There are several things you can do if you want to spend a day outside of the resort. If you are staying in the resort for a whole month as some people do, these places certainly are worth visiting:

  • Agde Marina – Not to confused with the small marina which is located in the naturism resort, Agde Marina is a lovely area and if you hire a bicycle, you can get to the marina area relatively easily.
  • Tennis Centre – The tennis center is just outside of the naturism resort and named the ‘International Tennis Centre’ is located at: Avenue de la vigne, 34 300 Cap d’Agde.
  • Water Park – The water park in Agde is known as Aqualand and it is an excellent family day out if you are visiting Agde as a family. The water park has more than eight water slides and tends to be open between June and September each year.
  • Hyper Market – If you are staying in the resort for more than a week (and especially if you are staying for a few months) you might want to do regular trips every few days to the textile area so you can shop in the Hyper Market. Located about 1 mile outside the naturist resort, you will get groceries quite a bit cheaper than in the supermarkets in the naturist area. You can quite easily cycle to the Hypermarket.

Agde Market – Another place worth visiting if you are staying in Agde for more than a week is the town center and particularly on market day.

There are different markets on different days and you can normally get an updated list online.
